Museum News
Where Is Justin the Beaver?

Since its opening in 2011, the Bronx Children’s Museum staff and its “River on the Go: Where is Justin the Beaver?” mobile exhibit have inspired almost 13,000 visitors at 36 educational institutions and 55 community events. To follow Justin’s path through the Bronx, take a look at our map!

Creative Activities
Instead of using plastic water balloons, cool off this summer with these homemade, reusable water sponges from Make & Takes.

Materials:
Several packs of new sponges
Scissors
Zip ties

Directions:

1) Cut each sponge lengthwise  into thirds.

2) Group together 8-9 sponge strips.

3) Now center a zip tie around all the sponges and pull the tie through the hole. Pull the zip tie tight, as much as you can until it won’t go anymore. Then cut off the excess zip tie.

4) Fluff up the sponge strips to make a nice looking water toy.
